Premetro tunnel works delayed: extra Pendelbus stop served for longer

The premetro tunnel under the Scheldt in Antwerp will remain closed longer than planned. More asbestos was found in unforeseen places, delaying the works by three months. This means that trams will run under the Scheldt again on 10 July 2027 at the earliest, just before the construction holiday.

What does this mean for you?

  • Pendelbus Haven van Antwerpen will keep running and we will continue to serve the stop at the temporary Linkeroever train station;
  • the adjusted timetable remains in effect. Should any changes be needed, you can find them here;
  • the adjusted timetables of the ferry and the temporary Linkeroever train station will also be extended.

Extra stop during work on the pre-metro tunnel

To help commuters get to and from their workplace in Waaslandhaven smoothly, the Shuttle Bus will also stop at the temporary Linkeroever train station from Monday 4 May 2026, whilst work is underway on the pre-metro tunnel under the Scheldt. From today, you can book your seat from this stop via the Mbus app.
